Stripling named 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Bibb County
Savannah Stripling, of Brent,
won the title of “2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Bibb County” Saturday
evening, July 14. Savannah, daughter of Lori and Dennis Stripling, is senior of
Bibb County High School. After graduation she plans to attend The University of
Alabama, where she will pursue a career in Pediatric Oncology.
Savannah, along with being
named 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Bibb County, received the following
scholarships and items: $500 Scholarship from Bibb County Junior Miss given in
honor of Angela Jo Medders the 1977 Bibb County and Alabama’s Jr. Miss, $500
from Alabama Power Company, $200 (4 year renewable) Scholarship given by Brent
Civitan Club, $100 Gift Certificate from Mary Kay Beauty Consultant Dedra
Clinner, flowers from Betty's Flowers, Distinguished Young Women’s Winner's
Medallion, and various College Scholarships
DeeAnn Elliott, of
Centreville, was named the First Alternate. DeeAnn, the daughter of Calvin and
Mitzi Elliott, is a senior at Bibb County High School. Her college of choice is
the University of Alabama or Troy University, and plans to pursue a career in
Physical Therapy. DeeAnn received the following scholarships and items: $250
cash tuition scholarships from First United Security Bank, The Centreville
Press, and Kemmer & Kemmer; and flowers from Betty’s Flowers
Samantha Wade, of
Centreville, was named the Second Alternate. Samantha, the daughter of Jody
Wade and Sandy Browder, is a senior at Bibb County High School. She plans to
attend the University of Alabama and pursue a PhD in Psychology. Samantha
received the following scholarships and items: $300 cash tuition scholarship from BankTrust, $200 cash tuition
scholarship from Rockco Funeral Service, and Flowers from Betty’s Flowers.
Agnes Culliton, of
Centreville, was the Fourth Finalist. Agnes, the daughter of Michael and
Therese Culliton, is a senior at Bibb County High School. She plans to attend
the University of Alabama and pursue a career in Pediatric Nursing. Agnes
received a $250 cash tuition scholarship from Burkes Mechanical.

Mrs. Jerry C. Pow.
Talent: Agnes Culliton,
Savannah Stripling, Dee Elliott, Brianna Fondren, Madison Wallace
These scholarships were
funded by scholarship donations from Victoria Hallman Traver, Willie R. Dunn,
Judge James M. White Family, McMillan Tire Center, Phil Adams, Jr., DMD, and
Bibb County Junior Miss.
Scholastic: Samantha Wade,
Emily Oliver, Dee Elliott, Madison Wallace, and Savannah Stripling. These
scholarships were funded by scholarship donations from Dr. David Allgood, Theresa
Suttle and The Oaks, Bibb Supply, McKinney Wrecker, J&S Drugs, and Bibb
County Junior Miss.
Fitness: Savannah Stripling,
Dee Elliott, Agnes Culliton, Samantha Wade, and Madison Wallace. These
scholarships were funded by scholarship donations from Cahaba Pressure Treated
Forest Products, Scott Davis Chip Mill, Dorothy McGee, Steve and Emily Bowman,
and Bibb County Junior Miss.
Self-Expression: Savannah
Stripling, Samantha Wade, Madison Wallace, Emily Oliver, and Agnes Culliton.
These scholarships were funded by Bibb County Junior Miss.
Spirit Award Winner: Samantha
Wade. This scholarship was funded by scholarship donations from Tucker and
JoAnn Medders and Bibb County Junior Miss.
