On Tuesday, May 4th The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a citizen who caught someone breaking into his home.
The robbery suspect had apparently stolen a shotgun and a pistol. The Sheriff’s Department were able to recover both guns and later that day apprehended the suspect.
Gregory Thomas Vernon, 39 of Six Mile was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, 1 count of Burglary 1st degree and 2 counts of Theft of Property 2nd Degree.
He is being held in the Bibb County Jail on $120,000 bond. Chilton and Shelby Counties also have holds on Vernon. He is said to be responsible for burglaries occurring at residencies around the Brierfiled community. Most of the stolen property from those burglaries has been recovered.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department anticipates additional charges to follow.
