On Tuesday, April 20 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Woodstock Police Department received a call regarding a stabbing incident at The Fortress Boy’s Home. Woodstock Police Chief Len Price along with Deputies of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene.
They discovered a 17 year old male lying in the hallway A staff member for the home was holding a rag to the back of the boy’s head behind the left ear. When the officers asked what happened, a 14-year old stated he stabbed the 17-year old out of self-defense. The 14-year old claims he was using the telephone when the older boy approached him about using the phone. The 14-year old claims he then hung up the phone and was asked by the older boy to come to the back. The 14-year old then claims after going to the back he was punched by the older youth.
According to the 14-year old, a fight ensued resulting in the younger boy being knocked down and choked multiple times. Eventually the 14-year old claims he got away and went to the kitchen to get a knife. The 14-year old claims he went after the victim and attempted to stab him but missed the first time. The 17-year old then came after the 14- year old and was stabbed just as he realized the younger boy had a knife in his hand.
Chief Price notified Juvenile Officer Bill Monk who called back with an order from the judge to take the 14-year old into custody and transport him to the Shelby County Detention Center for 1st degree assault. The 17-year old victim was transported to the hospital by an AmServ ambulance. The 14-year old was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center.
