"We are the front lines of truth advocacy. Major media outlets have traded truth for sensationalism, and online news sites have no real legal concerns to keep them in check. Digital text is not ink. The community newspapers are left as the only legally challenged body of information. We cannot afford to lie. We cannot afford to be inaccurate. We are the last stand for freedom of the press. We are the last of the true journalists."

On Tuesday, April 20 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Woodstock Police Department received a call regarding a stabbing incident at The Fortress Boy’s Home.  Woodstock Police Chief Len Price along with Deputies of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene.

They discovered a 17 year old male lying in the hallway A staff member for the home was holding a rag to the back of the boy’s head behind the left ear.  When the officers asked what happened, a 14-year old stated he stabbed the 17-year old out of self-defense.  The 14-year old claims he was using the telephone when the older boy approached him about using the phone.  The 14-year old claims he then hung up the phone and was asked by the older boy to come to the back.  The 14-year old then claims after going to the back he was punched by the older youth.

According to the 14-year old, a fight ensued resulting in the younger boy being knocked down and choked multiple times.  Eventually the 14-year old claims he got away and went to the kitchen to get a knife.  The 14-year old claims he went after the victim and attempted to stab him but missed the first time.  The 17-year old then came after the 14- year old and was stabbed just as he realized the younger boy had a knife in his hand.

Chief Price notified Juvenile Officer Bill Monk who called back with an order from the judge to take the 14-year old into custody and transport him to the Shelby County Detention Center for 1st degree assault.  The 17-year old victim was transported to the hospital by an AmServ ambulance.  The 14-year old was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center.
