Following an extensive undercover operation Brent Police Department arrested seven individuals on Tuesday, April 12 for drug related charges.
According to Brent Chief of Police, Terry Nichols Assistant Chief Ricky Heard has been working with the 4th Judicial Alabama Drug Task Force for several months on this sting.
Assisted by the Alabama Beverage Control Board and the Bibb County K-9 the Brent Police force arrested the following:
Earnest James, 78 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), 1 counts of selling alcohol without a license, one count of possession of untaxed liquor, and one count of unlawful alcohol with attempt to distribute. He is currently out on $132,000 bond.
Jake Markist, 30 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $80,000.
Antonio Hunt, 30 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. His bond was set $200,000.
Robert Conwell Jr., 35 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $60,000.
Rosie D. Coleman, 41 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana. Her bond was set at $100,000 with additional bonds remaining to be set.
Sheila Rena Bennett, 36 of Centreville was charged with 3 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $150,000.
Ludi Cole Jr., 47 of Brent was charged with 2 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $200,000.
Guns, money, and illegal narcotics were seized during these arrests, including marijuana, crack cocaine, illegal alcohol, and pills (potentially ecstasy).
Chief Nichols explained that more arrests were pending. He also applauded the efforts of his officers and thanked all the departments that cooperated with Brent PD in this operation and the arrests.
“I appreciate the help of the Drug Task Force, they always do an excellent job,” explained Chief Nichols. “(Ricky) Heard worked several hours with them in getting the job done. Carl McMillan and Ernest Wilson assistant with the arrests and Keith Crawford of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department helped us with the drug dog. As always the help of the ABC Board is appreciated.”
