"We are the front lines of truth advocacy. Major media outlets have traded truth for sensationalism, and online news sites have no real legal concerns to keep them in check. Digital text is not ink. The community newspapers are left as the only legally challenged body of information. We cannot afford to lie. We cannot afford to be inaccurate. We are the last stand for freedom of the press. We are the last of the true journalists."

Doug McCormick set to rock Centreville Friday Night

On Friday, December 3 immediately following the Brent/Centreville Christmas Parade and the annual Courthouse Christmas tree lighting everyone is invited to attend a concert at the old “Bizzy Beans” building on the square in Centreville. Chandra Green and the Better Hometown Group present Doug McCormick live in what Nashville enthusiasts call a knock out performance.
Green will soon be opening “Cahawba Falls Grill and Catering” out of the Bizzy Beans building and promises to bring exciting entertainment Centreville’s way, even beyond Friday.
Friday’s artist, Doug McCormick is an upcoming singer/songwriter from South Carolina whose voice, energetic shows, and originality have been generating a lot of buzz in Nashville. His expresses that appreciation for true country music and the love of his fans have kept his dreams alive over the past several years.
Doug graduated from college in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture Education. His schooling however, did not hinder his career in any way. Playing well over 100 shows a year; Doug is a seasoned artist, songwriter, and entertainer.
Along the way, Doug has opened for many nationally known acts such as, Luke Bryan, Rhett Akins, and David Nail. He has headlined at nationally known venues such as Wild Bills (Duluth, GA), Little John Coliseum (Clemson, SC), The Beachwagon (Myrtle Beach, SC), The Country Club (Augusta, GA), Tootsies (Nashville, TN) The Handlebar (Greenville, SC), and The Cadilac Ranch (Nashville, TN).
Doug released his self-titled debut album in September of 2008 and is currently in the studio recording his sophomore album, which is scheduled to release early 2011. All of Doug's material is written or co written by Doug himself in an attempt to bring back as he suggests, “a sense of sincerity to country music.” His music is true, real, and passionate, influenced by life's true experiences.
While Doug was already successful traveling the Southeast playing clubs, venues, concert halls, and festivals, he made his first trip to Nashville in March 2009. He quickly learned that the music industry was all about networking. In an attempt to network with as many people as possible, Doug began to focus more on his writing. This enabled him to meet more people in the business. As a result Doug has performed and participated in writers nights at several well-known writer’s venues around town such as The Commodore Sports Bar and Grill, The Bluebird CafĂ©, and The Blue Bar.
Several fortunate events led to Doug's decision to pack up his dreams and move to Nashville, TN in January of 2010. He is determined to be successful and is excited about what this means for his future. In the meantime, Doug continues to chase his dreams while living them all a the same time “I have the best job in the world,” Doug explains. “Every morning I wake up knowing that I make a living playing music. God has blessed me in so many ways and I could not be more thankful.”
