Dehart had previously been convicted of bank fraud in the state of Arkansas and was on probation at the time of his faked death off the coast of Mississippi. On Thursday October 8th Dehart was sentenced to 2 years in a Federal Prison for violation of probation. He is also facing charges in the the states of Alabama and Mississippi and could serve a total of 10-15 when all three cases are over. According to U.S. Marshall Bob Clark and investigation is still underway in order to uncover any possible crimes he commited during his 5 years on the lamb.
A full story including previously undisclosed information will be featured next week in the Centreville Press October 14th.
I was proud to beone of the individuals attending the sentencing hearing for Tim Dehart. Unfortunately some of your "facts" are once again incorrect.
ReplyDeleteI challenge you to get the facts straight before your next article. Your editorials are one thing.....but your opinions should not be included in a news article where you propose to provide the unbiased facts.
Some advice from a person a few years older and wiser than you.....stick to the story. Other information unrelated to the case can have a negative impact on innocent bystanders. Your editorials claim you are a Christian. As my preacher tells me, we can't just claim to be Christians, we have to show it in everything we do.

Mr. Clemmons,
ReplyDeleteYour comment borders on a serious accusation. First of all to suggest my facts are "once again" incorrect is a complete lie. My facts in this story, as with every story I have written have been researched. If there indeed is an inaccuracy, perhaps you should contact my source, one of the lead investigators on this case, U.S. Marshal Bob Clark. I have been in close contact with Mr. Clark since the arrest of Dehart. I assure you unless a federal investigator is lying to a media source for no clear purpose my facts are very much "correct."
The audacity of an individual to accuse a reporter of fault fact checking is pretty outrageous, being you have no idea what you are talking about. If anything, much of this story has not been reported. I am aware of many other facts surrounding this case, which cannot be discussed or reported presently.
I will allow God to judge what I show and do not show in terms of faith. I find it weak and cowardly to call one out on their faith based on misguided assumptions. Older and wiser or not, here you are simply being plain stupid. To suggest that my own personal agenda comes out in my writing is another a misguided statement. On the subject of challenges, I challenge you sir to explain where my OPINION came out in either of my articles. I also challenge you to personally meet me face to face and explain directly where these my inconsistencies in the Tim Dehart story dwell. I certainly have no problem relaying that information to the investigator.
I welcome you to accept my challenge, as I will be thrilled to see where my article is inaccurate.
Thank you very much,
Daniel
I was just telling my wife the other day that you report without putting your own opinion in. We were talking about how hard it must be when writing about situations like the canoe trip in Woodstock and the guy who faked his death. I don't know why anyone would take up for a known and convicted conman. I read the story and I dont see what this guy is going on about.
ReplyDeleteI think you are an excellent writer even though most of the time I can't stand or understand where you get your opinions. Your reports are very well written and I enjoy reading In the Box and your sports writing.
